Symbiosis International University unveiled yet another innovative need based program at a press conference addressed by its Principal Director Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar.

Dr. Yeravdekar outlined the logic behind this new initiative at a conference also attended by Durga Jasraj, Sandip Soparrkar and Priya Sarukkai Chabria.

The concept of a summer school which is quite popular abroad offers unique opportunities to students and community members to study and learn courses they would not ordinarily learn during their regular routine. This summer school brings together faculty from different SIU institutes along with experts from across India to teach diverse subject areas such as Film making , Creative Writing, Climate Change and Management.

The residential Summer School from May 7th to 31st will bring students of all ages (minimum 18 years of age or just appeared for XIIth) to the SIU Lavale campus at Pune where they will engage in challenging academic courses complemented by a variety of extracurricular activities.

Students will choose from 6 interesting courses which include Performing Arts (Theatre, Dance, Music), Film making & Photography, Art & Design, Climate Change, Creative Writing and a Liberal Arts course designed for tomorrow’s global managers. In addition to SIU faculty, students will have the rare opportunity to learn from experts such as author/poet Priya Sarukkai Chabria, Randhir Khare, Theatre faculty from Unitec New Zealand, Sandip Soparrkar and teachers from Durga Jasraj’s Art And Artistes, founded by Pt. Jasraj.

Courses offered feature engaging and interactive faculty, small class sizes, innovative assignments, a diverse multicultural student body and the entertaining extracurricular and sports facilities of the SIU campus. Summer School students must stay on campus as residential students for the duration of the summer school to enjoy the facilities and program offered. Outbound trips, sports, a well stocked library, multi cuisine food, add to the experience of staying at Symbiosis and enjoying a summer filled with the joy of learning something new.

For students, this is like an additional mini semester giving an opportunity to learn an intensive 120 hour 8 credit program that will add not only to their CV but also bring back the joy of learning something new, maybe a hobby never pursued, a dream never fulfilled!
