The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad issued the first draft of the proposed Placement Reporting Standards to bring in more transparency in the placement process conducted at b-schools.

IIM Ahmedabad has circulated the first draft of this proposed placement reporting standard among various stake holders and has invited their feedback, which will be collated and reviewed to incorporate necessary changes in the first draft to arrive at a final draft.

So far the placement process at b-schools has been a matter of much confusion and confrontation. Every b-school has its own system and schedule of campus placements. They follow different formats of placement reports reported in various media. Hence, lack of standardized information leads to confusion and thus, misinterpretation which leads in wrong decision making. Once finalized, this placement reporting standard would serve as a common platform for information about placements in B-schools.

The final draft however, might take some more time, IIM Ahmedabad will start following the format for the forthcoming placements which are usually held during March.

The B-school has mailed the draft and feedback form to institutes, recruiters and media representatives, seeking their feedback. The feedback form and draft has been uploaded on the institute website, inviting suggestions from people.

Receiving all the feedback, a meeting of stakeholders will be called to discuss and finalize the issue.
