Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi (IIFT)

Previous

Pedagogy

The curriculum of the Institute for all the programmes is very demanding, as a result of which full capacity to learn of the students is exploited. For example, for its MBA (International Business), the Institute follows trimester system and in each trimester there are about 7/9 courses to be covered in a period of three months.
The classes are scheduled early in the morning, late at night and on almost all holidays including Saturdays and Sundays. In this way, the Course Coordinators make collective efforts to deliver the course in such a way that the students of MBA are over-occupied intellectually even outside the class-room, particularly in the first few semesters. The effective practices followed in the Institute in this connection are weekly surprise assignments to be announced in the evenings and need to be presented in the class-room next early morning; and certain other methods are employed which encourage actual reading outside the class-room. The intensity of evaluation is such that the students who really work hard get higher grades. Further, an effort is made by each Course Coordinator to restrict the lecturing by the faculty to about thirty per cent and students' participation to the extent of seventy percent in class-room sessions.

Check Annexure 1 for the following: -

  • Eligibility for all courses offered

  • Admission Process for all courses offered

  • Reservation of Seats for all courses offered

  • Fees & Expenses for all courses offered

    Financial Assistance

The Institute operates Need Based Scholarship Scheme under which it pays interest subsidy for a certain period of time on Educational Loan of Upto 1.50 lakh p.a.
