New Records Set in Summer Placements
At IIM Bangalore
The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore created history when its entire batch of first year MBA students got summer offers within 3 days. Last year, IIMB carried the distinction of being the only B-School in India (perhaps worldwide) to place the first year batch within the first week of summer recruitments.
Overseas Offers
23% of the first year batch would be doing their internships abroad in the summer of 2005. This is the highest across IIMs and certainly an indicator of IIM Bangalore's growing international clout. The locations where the students would be working include New York, London, Munich, Hamburg, Bonn, Singapore, Tokyo, & Hong Kong.
Investment Banking
Wall Street biggies made a beeline to Bangalore for the summer recruitment. This year recruiters included Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Lehman Brothers, Deutsche Bank, Barclays Capital, & HSBC. The offers made were for key hubs of the world financial markets - New York (Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, HSBC), London (JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Barclays Capital), Tokyo & Hong Kong (Lehman Brothers).
Comeback of the Consults
After the trickle of the last few years, the Consults staged a smart comeback on campus with KPMG, Cap Gemini, Ernst & Young, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, and Accenture participating in the summer recruitments. Technofast Consulting made its IIM recruitment debut at Bangalore and recruited 6 interns for overseas locations. The stage seems set for a grand finale in the final recruitments in March with the likes of McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte (which do not currently have a summer internship program) set to participate.
Significant Statistics
IBM (18 Offers), ICICI Bank (16 Offers, including 1 for an overseas office), HLL (10), Cognizant (9), Times Group (9), Tata Administrative Services (7), Citibank (6), ICICI Prudential (6), Procter & Gamble (5) were the significant recruiters this year.
The stipend offered to the students for domestic locations varied between Rs. 6,000 & Rs. 75,000 per month, while for overseas offers it was as high as $7000 per month.
