Press Release Hyderabad, November 30, 2004: The Indian School of Business conducted a programme 'Business of Fashion - Economics and Strategy' for the first time in India exclusively for the Business of Fashion. The programme was conducted by Professor Vincent Quan of the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York. Talking about the programme, Professor Vincent Quan said, "The Asian continent, especially India has tremendous opportunity. FIT is the global leader in Fashion Education and we welcome the opportunity to partner with the ISB, which has emerged as a leader in Executive Education in this part of the world". With this programme, true to its tradition of Thought Leadership, the ISB becomes the first B-School in India to design a programme for this industry. Explaining on why ISB chose to conduct this programme, Shyam Viswanathan - Associate Dean, Executive Education, ISB said, "The ISB does not restrict itself to conventional areas of management, but seeks to provide state of the art expertise and best global practices in wide ranging areas like Media & entertainment, Hospitality Fashion... We will focus our attention on business models, strategies and economics of businesses, whatever be their area of human activity". The programme was targeted at successful fashion marketers (wholesale level companies who source for production) and vertical retailers who are utilising a combination of market intelligence and a clearly defined merchandise planning process to ensure financial success. Participants included fashion houses & apparel manufacturers and exporters.
