XLRI Student to represent India at International Youth Leadership Conference 2005 in Prague

  • Sole representative of India in a confluence of 70 countries across the globe

  • Conference to focus on Global Leadership

  • Discussion on various international issues

  • Participants to participate in UN Security council crisis and International Criminal Court simulations and International Media Panel discussion

    Ms. Surabhi Loshali, a student of XLRI Jamshedpur will be representing India in the International Youth Leadership Conference organised by The Civic Concepts International, to be held in Prague, Czech Republic from January 3 to 8, 2005. The International Youth conference provides a platform for representatives of various countries to test their international leadership skills in real-world simulations of global organizations.

    She is one among several participants from 70 countries across the globe. Some of the other participating countries are Afghanistan, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, China, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Republic of South Korea, Mexico, Mongolia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Palestine, Philippines, Romania, Russian Federation, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.

    Over the six-day schedule, the participants would be exposed to a variety of simulations, discussions and debates. The issues would focus on politics, international relations, global leadership and international issues of Palestine and Zimbabwe. Highlights of the conference include a United Nations Security Council Crisis Simulation, International Law Day Briefing, International Media Panel Discussion and International Criminal Court Simulation.

    The companies that are sponsoring Ms. Surabhi Loshali's visit to Prague are Tata Steel, Tinplate, Timken, Hewitt Associates and Indian Airlines. The Civic Concepts International, which is organizing the Conference, is also providing Ms Loshali scholarship to attend the Conference.

    Expressing happiness over the participation, Fr. Casimir Raj, Director, XLRI, said, "We are happy that the sole representative of India to the Conference is from XLRI. This is a good opportunity to interact and learn about various aspects of different cultures and countries. We are proud of her achievement."

    The Civic Concepts International facilitates cross-cultural exchange of ideas and fosters international relationships and teaches young international leaders to practise tolerance and coexistence early on by exposing them to people and places they would otherwise not encounter. The International Youth Leadership Conference is about the encouragement of global citizenship and an understanding of the most important international issues we face today.
