'Transcend' is Back at SIBM, Pune The phoenix has finally risen from the ashes. SIBM has revived its festival and come out with a spanking new Transcend 2006 scheduled to take place from 1st to 3rd of March. Cellular provider major Idea will be the festival's main sponsor and aptly so. This year's festival promises a whole host of new ideas and events which promise to make it a rocking event. The fest has traditionally been one of the most popular in the city and promises to deliver three days of competition, gaming and quizzing among over 40 business schools from around the country. Transcend loyalists will not be disappointed either as all time favourite events such as the fashion show and the popular rock concert are also slated to happen - but with a difference. The fashion show at Transcend 2006, called Friday Dressing will be a one-of-a-kind event as it will be hosted and held at the Pune Central Mall. B-schools will not only compete against each other but also showcase collections from the House of Pantaloons. For the headbangers, the festival gives you Azotize - the rock show featuring the explosive Parikrama followed by the eclectic sounds of Indian Ocean. The concert will be held at Elysium, off Koregaon Park. Domain Expertise Inquisition, a business quiz conceptualized and conducted by Giri "PickBrain" Balasubramaniam (of Tata Crucible fame) will put budding management gurus to the test with his barrage of teasers, twisters and googlys. The fest also has a theatre production lined up which is written and directed in-house and will feature amateur thespians from SIBM. Some of other events that will debut at Transcend 2006 are Last Man Standing, a management leadership game which puts participants through a battery of contests over a grueling 55 hours; and Two Left Feet, a dance competition which will be open to participants from both graduate colleges and B-schools. A race against time on those asphalt burning mean machines is not too far behind - the Treasure Hunt on bikes presented by Castrol is expected to be another show stopper. Established in 1978, SIBM is in its 28th year of service to the student community. It continues to be the flagship brand of Symbiosis and is recognized as one of the best business schools in India.
