FUTURISM: fuoturoism (fyu'ch??-riz'??m) n.: Methodology in which a range of plausible alternatives is suggested concerning future scenarios.

A good manager is one who is a life-long student. And the marketplace is the greatest teacher. It is this belief that brought together the Academia represented by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Delhi and the Industry represented by Birlasoft, Noida, in such a symbiotic relationship. Another reason for this much needed synergy that has brought Birlasoft and IIFT to envisage this paper writing contest is the effort to merge boardroom experience and classroom learning. Welcome to the first Birlasoft-IIFT Paper Writing Contest. An opportunity to share your vision. A platform for you to showcase your approach. A chance for you to drive the driving force of the Indian economy - the IT industry.

The past decade has witnessed a major change in the history of global trade in IT services, with an increasing acceptance of the global delivery model. This translates into unique business opportunities for the concerned players, namely developing countries like India, and other south-east Asian countries, which have emerged as leading offshore service providers for many companies. These companies also face a challenge as to how to use the new global IT scenario to their advantage, right from choosing the provider to choosing the processes to be outsourced. Effectiveness of the strategy in this regard will determine who the giants of tomorrow are.
