FMS-Delhi Holds International Marketing Conference
Theme: "Redefining India's Marketing Paradigm in the New Globalized World"

The conference also incorporated a cultural night in which the renowned Delhi band Adhveta performed their unique rendering of fusion music. After three days of intense discussion, debate and thought-provoking ideas on a range of relevant issues, the International Conferences, or iCon, concluded among the august presence of Dr. A. K. Dubey,
Registrar, Delhi University, Prof. Vijay Kapur, Professor of Marketing, Sales and Strategic Management, Faculty of Management Studies, and Prof. Brian Smith.

Prof. Brian Smith delivered the valedictory Address and shared his insights and observations about India and its fascinating culture. He highlighted key differences between Western and Indian cultural mores and implored the FMS students to retain the unique traditions and heritage of India. Prof. Smith also spoke about the deep-rooted prevalence of vast entrepreneurial talent found in India and the imperative need to tap it.

"India is on a roll; be it FDI, astounding GDP growth rates or employment landscape. Yet, the youth of India need to temper their enthusiasm with caution. The youth must increasingly equip itself with the necessary skills and build its knowledge repository to compete with the world's best," he said.

Prof. Vijay Kapur engaged the audiences with his experiences in the Indian Administrative Services. He encouraged the students by highlighting that no task is too Herculean to accomplish despite seeming difficulties such as the self-centered polity and an apathetic bureaucracy.

Dr. A. K. Dubey, the Guest of Honor, also drew on his experiences to highlight the changing paradigm of career paths in the growing economy of India. He implored upon the students to constantly keep themselves abreast and updated to build and retain competitive advantage.

The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, industry and academia. The conference concluded with the announcements of two upcoming conferences by FMS's distinguished faculty, namely, the International Conference on 'Integrating Spirituality and Organizational Leadership' scheduled for February, 2007 and International Conference on 'Corporate Social Responsibility' scheduled for December, 2007.
