VGSOM-IIT Kharagpur to Hold its Annual Management Festival 'Occasio'

VGSOM-IIT Kharagpur has launched its management festival OCCASIO'07, which will be held on 10th-11th February 2007 at VGSOM campus. OCCASIO is born of the desire to build a forum where students, academia and corporate across the country can interact.

True to its name, OCCASIO provides an "opportunities galore" for those who have skills and determination to compete with the best in their peer group. During the course of the festival, students will be tested on several aspects, from their knowledge of business trivia to their skills at preparing and implementing business ideas.

Events

OCCASIO, in association with SREI, brings Kibitzer - a Live Case Study on distressed Asset Reconstruction. The case inspires the participants to venture into new opportunities and dimensions of infrastructure financing. The participants need to showcase their knowledge of financial fundamentals, as well as the problems of practical financing on a large industrial scale. A panel of industry and academic experts will judge the entries.

In continuation with the theme, OCCASIO presents its Business Plan Competition - Megacorp. It is aimed at those who are satisfied only by glory and not mediocrity. The plans are evaluated for their creativity as well as their practicality in this randomly chaotic world. In sum, the event is conceptualized for those who dare to dream, foresee an opportunity and have the mettle to convert it into reality.

Furthermore, for strategically inclined future managers, in collaboration with IBM, OCCASIO brings to you Stratagem - a Business Strategy Game. The competition looks at finding future leaders who have the will and determination to transform the companies especially in a dynamic business environment. Success comes to those who can spot the opportunity fastest, and can leap in at the right moment, with the right resources.

As part of a platform encouraging corporate interaction, an Online Quiz - Pentacle will be launched, which is open to all. It is not just a management quiz, but also an event that will challenge every aspect of one's general awareness and knowledge. The victor who comes through shall have the satisfaction of knowing that he has battled through the toughest terrain in order to attain the ultimate prize at OCCASIO.
