Megabucks '07 at IIT-Kanpur to Provide Platform to Exhibit Entrepreneurship Ideas at 'Impresario'

'Megabucks' is one of the biggest business and entrepreneurship festivals held in India. Over the years, Megabucks has gained great recognition among the academia and the corporate world and can boast of building a strong network of successful businessmen, venture capitalists, angel investors and academia.

"A good showman is the best salesman" - the proverbial wisdom stands true even when the item to be sold is a good idea itself. How does one get a platform for the exhibition, though? Megabucks '07 provides an answer in the form of Impresario - The Entrepreneurial Expo. The Italian word 'impresario' means 'a showman, a presenter of great shows'. The Impresario at Megabucks aims to help anyone who wishes to present an idea to start an entrepreneurial venture - and everyone who wishes to take a look at them!

The exhibition would consist of twenty stalls set up in the Students Activity Center of IIT Kanpur which will be the central hub of all Megabucks activities, providing a platform for networking within a large pool of intellectuals consisting of venture capitalists, prospective investors, business gurus, industry-active academicians and students from across the nation. The exhibitors would, thus, avail of the unique opportunity of interacting closely with prospective investors as well as prospective employees.

The expo would provide the young entrepreneurs an unparalleled opportunity to showcase their companies to the representatives from the Megabucks associates like NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network), TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) and The Boston Pledge Group, which aim to promote entrepreneurship.

The biggest new attraction is the collaboration with McMaster University's Center for Engineering Entrepreneurship and Innovation (XCEEi), Canada. ATCC, a seed fund that is a very close partner of XCEEi is looking at investing up to 0.75 million Canadian Dollars in the promising ideas!

The expo would be open to assessment by dignitaries invited for Megabucks as speakers in conferences, workshops and lecture-series. Many of these evaluators promote entrepreneurship with a disposition to fund exciting entrepreneurial ventures. The five most interesting companies / ideas as selected by these delegates would be given a chance to give an exclusive presentation on 8th April 2007 to all the delegates associated with Megabucks who might be prospective investors.
