Bharti Foundation Awarded Scholarships to XLRI Students

Bharti Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Bharti Enterprises, today awarded scholarships to two students from XLRI Jamshedpur under the 'Bharti Scholarship Scheme'. Bharti Foundation has set up the Bharti Scholarship Programme for academically bright students, who are pursuing higher education but have limited financial resources for the same.

Bharti Scholarship Programme aims at assisting such students in becoming professionally or technically qualified. Bharti Foundation has initiated Bharti Scholarship Programme in 30 premiere institutions across India. This scheme is targeted at students pursuing higher education in management, engineering and agriculture. As part of this scholarship scheme, two scholars from each institute are selected on merit-cum-means basis.

Abhishek Mall and Sandeep Agarwal from XLRI Jamshedpur today received their first scholarship cheque from Mr. M. D. Prasad, Vice President (Operations) Bihar & Jharkhand, Bharti Airtel Ltd. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. M. D. Prasad said, "I am delighted that through Bharti Foundation, we are getting an opportunity to help create a platform for nurturing the educational faculties of young scholars. We stay committed to helping realise the Bharti Foundation's resolve to expand the learning opportunity to more and more sections of society."

According to Fr. Casimir Raj, Director, XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, "Corporate Social Responsibility has emerged as one of the key pillars of corporate strategy and Bharti Airtel's initiatives in this regard are truly commendable. Education is a great enabler and initiatives like these are bound to foster an appetite for knowledge and management experience amongst budding professionals."

Two more Bharti Scholarships were awarded to Gauraw Lakshmi and Mukesh Kumar from L. N. Mishra Institute of Economic Development & Social Change at Patna. Both these Institutes form part of the network of 30 premiere Institutions for the Bharti Scholarship Programme in India.
