IIMs Results / Admissions Expected to be Delayed Further Till May 9, 2007

The SC hearing on quota came and went, but the confusion over admissions still persists. Even after the Supreme Court order refused to lift the stay on OBC quota, the admission mess continues.

The Ministry had earlier told the IIM Directors to put on hold their lists on admision till they hear from the government. A directive has already been issued by the Ministry to all private engineering and management institutions under All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), to placate those students who are caught in the quota haze. It further states that the students who withdraw from the programme after the session begins would be refunded the entire tuition fees.

The admission list for the IIMs is already delayed by over a week and will now be declared only after a go-ahead from the HRD Ministry. The Supreme Court has fixed May 8 to take up an application moved by the Centre. So the results for IIMs are expected to be delayed till then at least.
