IIMs Get Go-Ahead to Start Admission Process

On Thursday, the government gave go-ahead to central institutions of higher education, including the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), to admit students along the same pattern as last year, and to start admissions for General and SC/ST category students.
A decision on seats for OBCs will be taken on May 8, the date of the next Supreme Court hearing on the quota issue.

IIM-Ahmedabad says it might send offer of admission to students in two days if it receives communication from the HRD Ministry in this regard, giving a go-ahead to start admission by Friday. IIMs are meanwhile waiting for an official communication from the ministry today. The HRD Ministry is expected to issue a directive on Friday to all educational institutions to re-start the stalled admission process. The IIMs are expected to start admissions from Monday.

The IIMs are likely to announce their admission list by evening today on their respective websites.
