Record Summer Placements at DOMS, IIT Roorkee for Batch of 2004-06 Summer Placements at the Department of Management Studies (DOMS) at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, was just another of its success stories. DOMS wrapped up the summer placements for its MBA Class of 2006 soon after it successfully completed its first ever final placement week for the Class of 2005 in its brief 7 year history. As many as 34 companies had confirmed participation in the summer placement process, while only 23 companies got the opportunity to hire summer trainees from the batch comprising 47 students. Companies like IBM, Glaxo Smithkline, HCL Tech, TNS Global, Hewlett Packard, Eicher Motors, GE Plastics, Reliance, RBI, Baypackets, Bajaj Auto, Essar Steel, ITC, KSA Technopak and Berger Paints are some of the organizations where students got their summer placements. Many of the companies were first timers at DOMS. The Student Coordinator said that despite the fact that the batch comprises of only engineering graduates, there was a balanced presence of top-notch companies from all sectors such as IT, Consulting, Finance, Pharma, Market Research, FMCG, Automobile and Manufacturing. Besides offering attractive stipends many of the companies are keen on absorbing their summer trainees by making pre-placement offers, as has been observed in the past. The Coordinator also added that new initiatives are being considered such as extended summer training and summer placement week. Concluded.
