IIM Ahmedabad Sets-up an Urban Health Center for Urban Poors at Vasna

One of the premier B-schools of India, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has provided its help and guidance to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation in setting up a decentralized and integrated Urban Health Center for Urban Poors in Vasna.
Other partners with IIM-A in this mission are Akhand Jyot Foundation, Gujarat Cancer Society, and Saath.

For Urban Health Center (UHC), a model of public-private partnership was proposed in the year 2004. This was based on socio-economic profile and condition of public health. IIM-A has provided GIS (Geological Information System) to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation for identifying suitable locations for UHC. The IIM-A model aims to establish urban health centres in each ward to ensure availability, accessibility, affordability of health services in city.

The main purpose of setting this kind of center is to provide outpatient services and medical assistance to needy people at a reasonably lower rate as compared to other hospitals. UHC Vasna treats at least 100 patients daily and provides them facilities for consultation, medicines and required investigation.

Concluded.
