Graduation Function for MBA (Part Time) Held at FMS Delhi

The Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi is one of the premier management schools of the country. The Part Time Course is the flag-ship course of the institution in the sense that when the FMS was founded in 1954, its first course was a Part Time Diploma Course in Management.
Since then both the FMS and the Part Time Alumni have carved a niche for themselves on the corporate radar screen both in India and abroad. Today, the 3-Year MBA Part Time Course is not only very demanding but a very sought after course among aspirants of management education. The curriculum is designed to provide the formal academic inputs to the vast working experience held by the students of the part time courses. The grueling 3-year course has become a sort of template for the executive learning programmes across the country in the field of management education. The Part Time alumni like Mr. Manoj Kohli, CEO of Bharati Airtel Ltd. have been continuously associating themselves with FMS to provide the very vital corporate - B-school interaction for the benefit of the students.

Programme Details

The entry is through a written test and successful candidates are screened through an interview. Three year programme arranged in six semesters covers 26 subjects and a very comprehensive project study work. The programme runs five days a week in the evenings. The zeal of the students rushing to the campus for classes after the day’s work, maneuvering through the unforgiving traffic of Delhi speaks volumes of about the demand for the course and the value it offers.

Student Profile

The students have a working experience ranging from 5 to 15 years. A look at the profile of the batch that has just graduated reveals that 12 are from Defence Services, over 15 from PSUs and Govt. Organizations, 20 from Banking and Finance Sector and the rest from the Private / Corporate Establishments. Of course, the men outnumber the women vastly in numerical strength but the fact that the topper of the course is a woman seems to echo the emerging women power.

"But, it is an unenviable task for a woman to do this course balancing between work, studies and family," says Jhanvi Sharma, who is a working mother and has successfully completed the course.

The 47-year-old naval officer, Capt. Chalapati, is probably the oldest in the course. "It seemed impossible to get back to books when I started the course in July '04. But as the course progressed, I found so much to learn from my classmates from the civvy street that learning was both challenge and interesting experience. This is probably the best thing that could happen to me."

Manu Gulati is a Regional Manager in the corporate world and feels, "I am able to see the inter relationship of various aspects of corporate processes and functions more clearly today and the networks developed here will surely stand me in good stead."

Graduation Function

The Graduation Function of the 4th August 2007 was held to award the Certificates to the successful students of MBA (PT) and MBA (Health Care Administration). Over 80 students were awarded the certificates. The Chief Guest at the function was Prof. V. N. Rajasekh Aran Pillai, VC of IGNOU. The function began at 1830 at the South Campus Auditorium.

Concluded.
