IIML to Organize International Student Exchange Program with Universities of Europe & North America

The International Student Exchange Program of IIM Lucknow has finally arrived. What started as a modest endeavour in the year 2000-01 with 9 outgoing students, 2 incoming students and 3 partner universities has grown to a full scale program providing a number of students with an opportunity of learning about international business practices and work ethics.

The total number of beneficiaries of the Student Exchange Program 2007-08 will be 68, including 43 outgoing students and 25 incoming students. The number of partner universities has swelled to 21 this year.

The students of IIM Lucknow visiting the foreign Universities in Europe and North America will act as ambassadors of India and the Indian education system led by premier institutes like the IIMs. Upon their return to IIM Lucknow, these students will act as change agents providing valuable feedback to the education system at IIM Lucknow from what they have learnt at the foreign universities of international repute. The students have been assigned with specific tasks of observing and recording the difference in the education system back home and in the foreign universities that they will be attending for an average period of 3 months. The international stint varies from 2 months to upto 4 months.

A number of students have secured scholarships from different agencies for the period of student exchange. Tarun Lakhotia, Abhinav Goel and Anand Vaidya have secured the DAAD Scholarship by the German Govt. Shanu Mittal, Sanjib Putatunda, Nidhi Wangnoo and Mayank Mittal have secured the Incentive Scholarship by EGIDE (France). Manu Garg and Hemant Bansal have been awarded the Eiffel Scholarship by the French Govt. Sumit Kanthed, Pooja Gupta, Ankit Agarwal, Siddhartha Kankoria, Raakesh Natraj and Vamsi Krishna M. have been awarded the French Embassy Scholarship. The scholarship amounts cover approximately 80-100% of the entire expense of studying abroad for the (roughly) 3 month period.

The newest partner institutes include the National University of Singapore in Singapore and the Turku School of Economics & Business Administration in Turkey.
