Idea Generation Workshop Held by Mahesh Murthy at JBIMS-Mumbai

With an unflinching focus on fostering idea generation amongst the students of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, the Entrepreneurship Cell of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies invited Mr.

Mahesh Murthy, the founder of Pinstorm & Passion Fund, to share his experiences at the "Idea Generation" Workshop held on September 1, 2007. Budding entrepreneurs of the institute got an insight into the realms of entrepreneurship as the famous venture capitalist shared lessons from his real-life experiences.

The workshop was an eye-opener to the most significant aspect of a successful entrepreneur, "Ideas". Mr. Murthy stimulated student participation by inviting their view-points on various facts related to entrepreneurship. He enthralled the audience by emphasizing on facts that contradicted conventional thinking. Through many live examples, he clearly highlighted that an idea which can generate extraordinary word of mouth by offering enormous customer delight is the one that sells the best.

Mr. Murthy urged the students to be a "Trend-setter" and not a "Trend-follower" by stressing on the harsh fact, "Trends means ends". He aroused interest when he stated that the longer one stayed in the system, the harder it was to break away from it, and that this very system could kill the entrepreneur within us.

Revealing the greatest gratification of being an entrepreneur, his inspiring and highly motivating words, "Life is all about maximizing assets. It's not the money but the experience that matters and enriches your life. Every step of an entrepreneur's journey is self-discovery and self-actualization," left the audience spell-bound giving a new dimension to their thoughts.

Putting to rest the apprehensions regarding difficulties faced by an entrepreneur, Mr. Murthy shared his views, "Irrespective of the initial set-backs, an entrepreneur would have lived a full life and would have seen and enjoyed more colors of rainbow than others."

The workshop provided the students a fresh perspective on being an entrepreneur and gave them direction to focus on setting the trends through "Sustainable Competitive and Innovative Ideas", and transforming their dreams into reality.
