SIIB Students undertake Plantation Activity in Community Service Program

Taking a progressive step towards corporate social responsibility, the Community Service Team, Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), undertook a Plantation Activity, on 5th October 2007 at Venunagar, Wakad.

SIIB, recognizing its social responsibility, voluntarily conducts educational drive to teach English and computers to high school students of Wakad and English to handicapped students of Mann village. Adding to this, SIIB also recognizes the traffic congestion problem in Pune, and in an attempt to solve this problem, it is contributing its share by managing traffic twice a week, at jam-packed Hinjewadi Chowk.

Plantation activity was another such example. Under this, students of Community Service Team planted a number of saplings of Cassia, Vehda, Bahaunia and Gulmohar in collaboration with Pune Municipal Corporation.

Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Rahul Kalate, Youth Leader. Among others, Mr. Sutar, President of Chintamani Ganesh Mitra Mandal, was also present to grace the occasion. This whole campaign was under the guidance of Mr. Avinash Shitole, Registrar, SIIB and Prof. (Ms) Viraja Bhat, Faculty, SIIB. Huge crowd of local residents gathered to support the initiative.

On this occasion, Mr. Rahul Kalate addressed the crowd and congratulated SIIB community service team. Mr. Shitole gave vote of thanks on behalf of SIIB. Mr. Shelar, Supervisor, Garden Department, Pune City Municipal Corporation and Mr. Orape from Health Department, Pune City Municipal Corporation extended their whole-hearted support to make this event a great success.
