Annual IT Management Summit 'AIMS 2007' of IIM-K Focuses on Pervasiveness of Internet
Post-event Press-release

AIMS 2007, the Annual IT Management Summit of IIM Kozhikode focused on the pervasiveness of the Internet and its effect on our everyday lives. The summit held on 17th and 18th November at the scenic IIMK campus had "The New Frontiers of Technology: Consumer Internet, Wireless & Mobile" as its theme.
AIMS 2007, India's largest student-driven IT summit, successfully brought together the IT industry, government officials and students for two days of intense discussions and brainstorming.

Going beyond a traditional summit, AIMS 2007, in association with Calicut IT Initiative (CITI), a professional citizens' initiative, launched ConnectCalicut, a round-table discussion where decision-makers from major IT companies, the Kerala Government (including the IT and industry secretaries of Kerala, and the District Collector of Calicut) and infrastructure developers including the Aditya Birla Group, converged. The round-table discussions at ConnectCalicut served as a means of highlighting Calicut's advantages as a potential IT destination, and brought out a number of invaluable suggestions and ideas from the IT heads based on their own experiences. The government officials and members of CITI actively sought feedback from IT leaders on requirements of IT organizations in order to help Calicut bridge the gap in order to become the next IT destination.

The speakers at AIMS 2007 were from a mixture of start-ups and global giants. The speeches started with the keynote address by Mr. Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder & CEO, BharatMatrimony.com, and Chairman, IAMAI, who spoke about the Indian online industry in general, and about his brainchild, Bharatmatrimony.com, in particular. He also spoke about the growth potential of the industry and possible future challenges in the same.

Mr. Ananth Krishnan, VP & CTO of TCS, delivered an enlightening talk on 'Consumer Internet, Wireless & Mobility Implications for the Enterprise' and discussed the opportunities that pervasive mobility presents and the factors that hinder it from becoming a reality.
