Marketing Guru, Mr. Gurcharan Das, Addresses MICA Students

Students of Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA) had the honor of being addressed by the great Marketing Guru, Mr. Gurcharan Das. He spoke about the various facets of 'The New, Emerging India'.

Mr. Das has graduated in Philosophy, Politics and Business from the Harvard University. He has been the CEO of Procter & Gamble India and Vice President, Procter & Gamble Far East between 1985 and 1992, and later Vice President and Managing Director, Procter & Gamble Worldwide (Strategic Planning). Prior to P&G, he was Chairman and Managing Director of Richardson Hindustan Limited from 1981 to 1985.

In 1995, after a 30-year career in 6 countries, he took early retirement to become a full-time writer. He, currently, consults with a number of companies on global corporate strategy, and is associated with a private equity fund. He is the author of the international bestseller, 'India Unbound', which has been published in many countries and languages and filmed by the BBC. He writes a regular column on Sundays for the Times of India, Dainik Bhaskar, Eenadu and Prabhat Khabar. His other writings include a novel, 'A Fine Family'; an anthology, 'Three English Plays'; various plays like, 'Mira' and '9 Jakhoo Hill', and a book of essays called 'The Elephant Paradigm'.

The talk delivered by him concentrated on the strength and weaknesses of the success model of India. While comparing with other nations, Mr. Das aptly demonstrated that historically India has been on a success path led by young entrepreneurs, which is unique to Indians and quite viable and sustainable. The students were highly motivated and filled with zeal to take part in the revolution of growth.

Concluded.
