IIM Calcutta Wins BT Acumen National Finals

The venue was the ITC Grand Central Sheraton and Towers in Mumbai. The teams were the best minds from across the country, the four zonal winners. In a superb contest, the IIM Calcutta duo of Arzi Adbi and Naviin Ibhrampurkar emerged

the national winners of the Business Today - Aditya Birla Group National Finals held on Saturday, December 15, 2007.

Speaking against the motion "India Inc. Business Leaders Should Take Over the Political Leadership", the IIM Calcutta team trumped IIM Ahmedabad (represented by Vinamra and Mohit). They came up with a superior show of intellect and articulation during the keenly contested debate and also displayed admirable erudition while answering the questions that followed. The entire event was hosted by the inimitable Harsha Bhogle.

The prelude to the finals took place a little while earlier with IIM Calcutta defeating IIM Bangalore (Sandeep and Sahil). This time they were speaking in favor of the motion "India Inc. is not Doing Enough to Groom Women Leaders". Engaging in a war of words with IIM-B, the IIM-C duo continued their good run that had started sometime back when they emerged zonal winners in the East Zone Finals. In the other semi-finals, IIM-A had defeated IIFT, Delhi (represented by Arka and Anchal). IIM-A spoke against the motion "India's Demographic Dividend is just a Marketing Hype".

For IIM Calcutta, the icing on the cake was the Alumni Quiz Final which was won by Jayashree Mohanka who teamed up with Rabi Shankar Raha of the Delhi School of Economic. They were the East Zone winners in the previous zonal round.
