IIM Calcutta Celebrates Hindi Divas & Hindi Fortnight Valedictory Session

Prof. Shekhar Chaudhuri, Director of IIM-C, inaugurates the Hindi Divas and the valedictory session of two-week-long, Hindi Fortnight celebration at the institute's auditorium. He highlights the importance of Official Language in our official activities,
and thanks all the participants who have taken part in the various activities during the event.

Followed by his speech on the occasion, the prize give away ceremony was held for the winners of different programmes which were held during the said fortnight. The auspicious galore of the fortnight comes to an end with the staging of "Durasha", a drama transcribed from Rabindranath Tagore's play, in Hindi, by Padatik's Little Thespian Group (a team of group theatre of Bengal).

The fortnight also included a separate session of 2-day Hindi workshop between 9th and 10th September where faculties from Hindi Teaching Scheme, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, came and taught the lesson on Official Hindi Correspondence. There were eighteen employees of the institute who took part. Students of the institute also took part in Antakshari and Extempore Speech which were held on September 14.

In his address, Chief Administrative Officer, Shri Dinesh Varma, says, "We have to abide by the constitutional obligation in implementing Official Language policy as per government guideline. To make the programme more participative, various sort of programme like Open House Quiz, Dictation Competition, See & Write Competition, Word Translation Competition, etc., were conducted for staff, students, and other participants. Participation from all concerned was very encouraging which will give tremendous boost for implementation of official language policy, and we expect greater participation in coming years."
