Activities at a Glance @ SIOM, Nashik

Learning has various facets. 'Outward Bound Learning' is an interesting concept followed here at SIOM. Various management and strategic games are organized in the hilly and scenic confines of Nashik. These games encourage students to expand their thinking and broaden
their horizon of practical knowledge. An out and out learning experience wherein students are tested on their competitive instincts. And all this parallels with studies in full swing! Surely, it's a global learning experience!

Guest lectures form an important part of erudition at SIOM. This is the thread which connects the industries with us. Interactive sessions with experts from the industry enable students gain a strong foot-hold over the subject in question.

'SEED (Small Enterprises Empowerment Division)' is an initiative which is true to SIOM's vision of "Empowering Operations Excellence". SEED is basically a student-teacher committee which helps identify bottle-necks and constraints in industries, and comes up with solutions to eliminate process inadequacies. So, learning here is not a one-way process. It is a two-way process.

Apart from these routine activities, there are national-level events conducted annually. E.g., the recently concluded national symposium 'Tattv 2008' saw corporate heavy-weights enlighten the audiences on "Strategic Foresight". The entire framework for the event was designed by the students, of course, with timely inputs from the faculty members. The details of every aspect of the event were chalked out meticulously. The hard work of the students paid off with Tattv '08 culminating on a triumphant note.

Weekly business quizzes are another endeavor on the part of the students to enhance their existing business acumen.

So, there you are! A host of extra-curricular activities interspersed with routine course-work makes learning at SIOM challenging and fun. It is one platform where we assure you your intellectual faculties will be stretched to the limit and your decision-making abilities will be put to test continuously.

Heard of diamonds being cut and polished continuously, only to gleam and sparkle all the more? We actually feel the experience. And it is mind-blowing!

Concluded.
