IIM Ahmedabad Launches Asia’s Largest Agri-Business Summit, "Amaethon 2009"
Theme: "Identify, Innovate & Integrate"

Amaethon, the Annual Agri-Business Summit of IIM Ahmedabad, was conceived in 2005 as an effort to celebrate the increasing recognition of agri-business sector and attract attention towards the various associated activities and the reforms required for

their facilitation. It brings today's leaders and tomorrow's managers together on one platform, to trigger stimulating discussions on emerging trends, avenues and challenges in the field of Agri-Business.

Amaethon 2008 had the likes of Mr. V. Vaidyanathan, Executive Director, Microfin ICICI, Mr. V. Shanmugam, Chief Economist, MCX and Mr. Sanjeev Asthana, President & Chief Executive, Reliance Agri-Business, battling it out with students from across India on challenges facing the sector, and the possible alternatives and new strategies. Over 2600 students participated from more than 80 B-schools and 33 Agricultural Universities across Indian and abroad.

This year, Amaethon wishes to take a futuristic view; talking primarily on possible innovative developments in the field and means to enable their integration with the sector. 'Identify - Innovate - Integrate' shall be the three words that will drive this conglomeration where the best of the brains would meet and design the path for a glorious future.

Amaethon 2009 will feature the likes of Mr. Piruz Khambatta, MD & Chairman, Rasna, Mr. Ajit Kumar, Joint Secretary, MFPI and Mr. Praveen Laheri, Former Chief Secretary, State of Gujarat, battling it out with bright young minds from across India.

The sessions have been divided into: -

Enigma - Look Beyond...

... the essence lies in our ability to envisage the complex set of changes and to successfully isolate those opportunities that hold potential for changing the future from ones that do not. The session would tantalize beautiful minds to comprehend the complex linkages and critical factors that are driving the change towards this new economic model, and to translate the same into business opportunities.

Ab Incunabulis - From the Cradle...

... aims to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit and the spirit of innovation in the agri-business sector. This would be done by providing a platform to entrepreneurs and innovators to make their ideas mainstream with the help of the forum. The session also aims to inspire the participants to come up with new ways of doing business in the sector and inculcate the innovation spirit in them.

Regulae Ludi - Rules of the Game...

... shall engage sector experts in a dialogue focused on the role of government in agri-business sector. This would enable the participants to get an opportunity to explore policy issues and provide them with a platform to voice their opinions as the rules are re-written.
