MDI, Gurgaon Successfully Concludes its Annual Entrepreneurial Event, 'E-Week 2009'

MDI, Gurgaon successfully completed its Annual Entrepreneurial Event 'E-week 09' held from 11th to 14th February 2009. The event was organized by 'Entrepreneurial Ecosystem', MDI's Special Interest Group for budding entrepreneurs, and National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), a nationwide organisation encouraging entrepreneurs and their initiatives.

Eminent personalities from the corporate world, including high profile CEOs, visited the campus to have an interactive session with the aspiring entrepreneurs of MDI. The E-Week started off with Mr. Rajeev Karwal, CEO of Milagrow Knowledge & Business Solutions, giving his views on importance of values and principles. Giving examples of recent developments in business, he explained why moral and ethics are important for a business to grow organically.

Mr. Sanjay Bakshi, CEO of Tactica Capital Management Pvt. Ltd., who is also a visiting faculty at MDI, talked to the students about 'Serendipity' and the key elements of success of an entrepreneur. Being a successful entrepreneur himself, Mr. Bakshi focused on the practical aspects of life of an entrepreneur to the students. He made students understand the criticality of entrepreneurship and voiced for an early start, to get more time to face failures and seize the single lucky chance of life to become successful.

Finally, on 13th February, MDI students had a close-knit interaction with Mr. Animesh and Mr. Nishant, former students of IIT Delhi and co founders of iTasveer.com and Mr. Aditya Khanna from Tyroo.com, the only start-up in India funded by Yahoo!. These young entrepreneurs shared their experiences of starting a venture. They instilled the passion of an entrepreneur.

Later on, a 2008 alumnus of MDI, Mr. Mrinal, also added value to E-Week by sharing his experiences on manufacturing industry gained from his own company, Kunal Chemicals. The E-Week reached its climax with an Entrepreneurial Game, 'Gold Rush', which is based on a game 'The 1 Dollar Game' created at Harvard Business School for sharpening the entrepreneurial skills of students.
