IIM Lucknow’s Noida Campus to Host First International Conference
Theme: "Asian Management Practices: People, Strategies, and Evolutions"
On March 19-21, 2009

IIM Lucknow’s Noida Campus is organising a three-day International conference from March 19-21, 2009 in association with The Japan Foundation. The conference will focus on the theme 'Asian Management Practices: People, Strategies, and Evolutions'.

The plenary session of the conference will be held on 19th March 2009 at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi. The sessions on the second and the third day of the conference will be held at IIM Lucknow’s Noida Campus on March 20th & 21st, 2009.

Asia-Pacific region has witnessed dramatic growth in recent decades and several Asian economies have emerged and are emerging as major economic powers. Though their key response is to adapt to global trends that are predominantly Western in origin, countries in the region have blended their people management practices to suit their own culture and value systems.

The conference at IIM Lucknow’s Noida Campus aspires to capture the evolution of some of the unique practices, examine how strategic goals were achieved through people management during the growth, and the strategies being adopted during the current economic slowdown.

"The conference provides a podium for promoting mutual understanding of the cross-section of people, which includes academicians, industry leaders and representatives from NGOs. It is expected to generate greater interest among the researchers and provide them with a forum to promote joint research works in the field of people management studies of Asia-pacific region. The research papers as well as the presentations by participants will be published in the form of a book after the conference," says Prof. Ajay Singh, Director of the Conference.

Dowling, Professor of International Business, School of Marketing & International Business, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, Prof. Jai B. P. Sinha, Professor of Psychology & Management, ASSERT Institute of Management Studies, Patna, Prof. Fang Lee Cooke (Ph.D., MCIPD), Professor of HRM & Chinese Studies, Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK, and Prof. Kazuo Takada, Professor, Hitotsubashi University, Kunitachi, Tokyo, Japan.

The industry and government participation at the conference include corporate big-wigs like Dr. J. The subsequent discussions will deliberate on "Strategic HR Evolutions", "Leadership Perspectives: Moving towards the Future", "Global Competitiveness through HR Interventions", "Managing Across Diversities", "Productivity, Restructuring & HRM" and "NGO Strategies for Development through People".

More than 40 papers will be presented at the conference from leading lights in the sector.
