BIM, Trichy Students Win 'The New Age Manager' Award

The high point of the convention was the chief guest of the inaugural function, Mr. Dayanidhi Maran, Minister for communication and IT, Govt. of India.

Mayur Mayank and S. R. Vidhya presented a paper on "The New Age Manager as a Brand Creator", which was well received by the audience. The experience of addressing an 800 strong audience with state of the art technological aids was indeed awesome. The presentation evoked a roaring applause among the audience after their 10-minute presentation, which was followed by a 5-minute question round headed by the judges. The team bagged the 1st prize for the paper presentation which included the "New Age Manager" Trophy, a certificate and a cash award of Rs. 20,000/-. The second prize went to students of ISB, Hyderabad and there were 4 other teams which won the finalists trophy.

The paper presented by the team emphasizes that the near future would see Brand Managers not restricting themselves to publicity, adding new features in product and advertisements to create the Brand. With so many brands present in the market, the New Age Manager will have to make sure that brands will be hard-wired in customer's brains. It would no longer be enough to have a brand. Until and unless the customer comprehends the brand, the brand is not going to be subscribed with the consumer's mind. The coming times would see that "Brand Creation" would itself come-up with a basket of "Brand Creation and Sustenance" as a whole.

The competitive trend of today goes more than to prove a very significant fact that in the near future, as more and more players enter the market, with the ever-rising stiff competition it is customers who really make or kill a brand more than the strategies of top management. The business sustains as long as your customers are happy with you. Though the meaning and definition of happiness may vary from customers to customers. Each customer has now become a new market segment as a whole. As opposed to previous times, when the managers gave impetus to each market segment with a differentiated and customized strategy, it is now important to treat each customer as a new market segment itself and hence the need of customized and differentiated strategy for each customer. The experience will be the expression of the brand.
