IIM, Calcutta Organizes International Entrepreneurship Summit

Previous

The last panel of the day discussed how entrepreneurs can benefit from reaching out the masses, i.e by finding value a the bottom of the pyramid.

Under the moderation of Prof. Anindya Sen, and joined by Mr. Rajive Kumar (CEO, Rocketalk), Mr. Anshu Gupta (founder, Goonj), Mr. Amitava Bhattacharya (Banglanatak.com) and Mr. Ashish Jain (Bharti Airtel Innovation Fund), the panel suggested that entrepreneurs must find a way to adapt to this poorest of the poor customer segments. They would have to tailor their products and services to this segment, most of the times innovating to add more value. Mr. Gupta went on about how the rural market presents a huge potential, which, if tapped in the right way can lead to a huge potential market.

Prof. Operajita, the chief guest for the summit and Lt. Col. Bedi, the guest of honour, shared their views, as the day came close to an end. Their message was clear to all budding entrepreneurs – one has to take the plunge to be somewhere, and the motivation for that plunge must come from within.

Following the chief guest’s address, Prof. Raichaudhuri, the faculty co-ordinator of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, talked about KickStart, a unique entrepreneurial simulation developed by the center. Mr.Arjun Khurana, President, CEI concluded the summit by thanking the speakers, participants and his team.

Concluded.
