FMS, Delhi Univ. to Service the Services Sector

Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University has created the MBA in Management of Services (MBA - MS) to cater to the needs of the services sector.

MBA - MS, first of its kind in India, is a regular full-time MBA programme geared towards fulfilling the needs of creating business leaders in several fields, according to the institute.

Besides standard MBA specializations like Marketing, students can also pursue Financial Services, Healthcare Services, Public Services, Information Technology Services and Hospitality and Transportation Services.

The course has workshop and seminar based courses that provide hands on experience related to practical issues. More emphasis has been laid on application-oriented work, focused on skill development of the student.

The evaluation process at FMS takes into account both the theoretical learning and functional aspects related to various management disciplines. Recognizing the importance of Information Technology and Customer focus in service delivery, relevant courses have been integrated within the curriculum.

The course also claims to provide personalized attention to the students. FMS plans to conduct guest lectures by management 'gurus' from time to time to expose students to prevalent management practices.

Over 50 per cent of the students in the first batch have worked in leading organizations like Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Sapient, HPCL, Siemens, Schneider & L&T.

The aim of the course is to give students a skill-set that allows them to function within a wide spectrum of services.
