Summer Placement 2003 A Report on Day 0 The summer recruitment process at IIMA began with a phenomenal Day Zero on the 15th of November. The most revered names in the field of Investment banking, a top choice for B-school grads around the world, took 36 first year students for their offices in London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong. The figure last year was 29 summer interns. The number of offers made by Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, Lehman Brothers, UBS Warburg, JP Morgan Chase and HSBC add up to nearly double the overseas Investment Banking offers at all other B-schools in India put together. Of these recruiters, 4 were exclusive to IIMA - some of them in fact recruit from very select schools across the globe, and from only one school in India. Goldman Sachs, one of these exclusive recruiters, took an astounding 11 interns. The next highest was Lehman Brothers, which took 8. Merrill Lynch took 6 interns, Morgan Stanley 2, UBS Warburg 2, Deutsche Bank 3, JP Morgan Chase 2, HSBC 1 and IFC (World Bank) 1. IIMA has already landed more overseas internships than any other B-school in India - in just a single day of recruitment. More overseas offers are expected to pour in as the campus gears up for Day One, on the 30th of November (summer recruitment at IIMA takes place only on free weekends so as not to interfere with classes). If morning shows the day, then IIMA will end its summer recruitment season with the best statistics of any b-school in the country - like it has done year after year. Contributed by - |
