IBM takes on the corporate challenge today at Vista 2004
27th October 2004

Today, our friends at IBM take the Corporate Challenge as Team Vista visits the IBM campus. They play the unique retail game on the Vista 2004 our site www.iimb-vista.com

We spoke to IBM to see how they innovate at the frontier. Here's what they had to say...

IBM's character has been formed over nearly 100 years of doing business in the field of information handling. Nearly all of the company's products were designed and developed to record, process, communicate, store and retrieve information - from its first scales, tabulators and clocks to today's powerful computers and vast global networks.

IBM helped pioneer information technology over the years, and it stands today at the forefront of a worldwide industry that is revolutionizing the way in which enterprises, organizations and people operate and thrive.

IBM has always pioneered in incorporating Innovation as one of its strategic competencies. IBM has five best practice elements that comprise the path forward for innovation management: -

  • Capturing ideas in a coordinated structure

  • Turning ideas into products

  • Minimizing time to peak sales

  • Translating changes/feedback into product extensions

  • Rewarding good ideas

IBM does not just believe in just listing practices, but implementing them to churn out innovative ideas, which can be used competitively in the market. Examples of these are evident in the innovative products that IBM has offered to the customers time and again.
