* The International Consulting Knights Award 2003-2004 *
at IIM, Calcutta

Under the aegis of at the ongoing National Annual Business Fest of IIM Calcutta: Intaglio 2003, this prestigious Knighthood award was at stake to be granted to "THE" consulting team of B-Schoolers. Conducted by 'The Consulting Club, IIM Calcutta', this unique contest entailed an International Level Consulting Competition wherein the Prelims Round saw 8 Teams emerging qualified from out of the 121 International Entries coming from the World's Best B-Schools at USA, Germany, Asia, etc.

The Prelims Round was an indigenously developed consulting problem to which the participating teams had to provide solutions. The Final Round had with it an element of surprise as also the necessary anxiety levels attached as-in the material to this round was distributed just 24 Hours before the final round and the teams were requested to be ready with the analysis and corporate presentations on the other day, i.e., the D-day.

The finalist teams invited over to IIM Calcutta were from IIM Calcutta and IIM Indore (2 Teams each), and one team each from IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Lucknow, and JBIMS Mumbai. Eventually it was IIM Indore teams wrapping up the knighthood and the second runners-up positions while IIM Lucknow team became the first runners-up. One of the IIMC team shared the second runners-up position with IIM Indore.

The high level and eminent star judge panel included senior consulting stalwarts like Mr. Debashish Ghoshal (Head, Corp. Finance; E&Y), Mr. Aditya K. Biswas (Senior Principal Consultant, TCS), Mr. Gaurav Tamotia (Principal Consultant, IBM Global) and Mr. Debasish Sarkar (Asst. GM-ATM, SBI).

The guests of honour were Mr. Ranajay N. Ghosh (Asst. GM-PR&CSB, SBI) and Mr. Sudhamay Rakshit (Branch Manager, SBI) and distributed the event's T-Shirts to the contesting teams. The judges while commenting on the over all performance of the Finalist team praised the quality and the efforts they had put up. They then gave the audience some advices and tips from the corporate point of view.

The chief guest of the occasion was Prof. Shekhar Chaudhuri, Director IIM Calcutta who went on to emphasize the importance of events of this nature and scope in the current increasingly competitive global decision-making scenario for future corporate leaders. He said, "My congratulations to the Consulting members for the hard work they had put in to make 'The International Consulting Knights Award 2003-2004' a success. I am sure that this event would go a long way in enhancing the consulting skills of the respective B-School teams as well as act as a learning experience for them.

The participation of international teams makes the event all that more interesting." He wished all the best for the event and congratulated M. Scalem, the club president and his team who continuously are working for unique consulting events and activities both at national and international levels in addition to undertake LIVE Consulting projects with industry.

The event came to close by the president presenting the vote of thanks to all those present, the Intaglio team and congratulated his team for the superb effort that they had put to devise this international event.

Other than this event, the club also had organized 'The Strategians', the Strategy Game, under Intaglio where teams from the best B-Schools participated and fought for the rewards. Ultimately IIM Calcutta took the first two positions followed by the team from IIM Lucknow. This event also saw huge participation levels with over 90 teams of three members each from all the premier B-Schools.
