IIM Lucknow
Commemorates Twentieth Year of Its Existence

This year, the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, completes twenty years of its existence. The year has seen many new initiatives by IIM Lucknow, notably in the launching of a two-year Post Graduate Programme in Agri-Business Management, a unique and innovative programme with which IIM Lucknow reiterates its commitments to preparing dynamic management leaders for the rural sector. Started with a batch-size of 30, this programme is an offering of the Agricultural Management Centre, and aims to "develop agri-business leaders, entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs with a vision, competence and appropriate attitude for promoting/growing agri-business and agro-based enterprises".

The student community has also actively participated in bringing innovative events and activities to the campus, especially aimed to provide stimulating avenues for practical applications of management theories. A case in point is the launch of Mark-Strat by the marketing cell of the institute, a national level competition providing a series of live consulting projects in the area of marketing. The campus is abuzz with the activities of its various student committees in fields as diverse as finance and social service.

And now, the institute is looking to provide a focus-point for all the various activities happening on campus, and to commemorate the historic twenty-year milestone, by a two-day special event on the 30th and 31st of October, 2004. It is both the culmination of the events of the past year and a launch-pad for more to come in the future months.

The events planned for the two days are as varied as the interests of the members of the IIML community and the activities cover the entire gamut from a concert by the renowned Classical vocalist Madurai Sri T. N. Seshagopalan to Industry talks by some of the titans of Indian industry and members of the illustrious alumni of this institute. The twenty-year celebration weekend is aimed at both a stock-taking of two decades of achievements and a discussion on the directions of growth to be pursued to provide maximum social and economic benefit.

The event will also comprise a keynote address by Mr. Subir Raha, CMD, ONGCL and an address by His Excellency T. V. Rajeshwar, the Hon'ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh. Official launches of both Manfest, the annual All-India Business Schools Meet and Index, the annual marketing information fair will take place on the first day. This day will also see the launch of 'Mudra', IIM Lucknow's national-level journal of finance. A panel discussion involving the faculty and alumni of the institute is scheduled for the second day of the commemoration. There will even be a literary competition involving students of the local schools in line with IIM Lucknow's policy of contributing to the local society.

These events along the plans for an Inter-Business School management case contest and the publication of the best student research papers of the last two decades, among others, make IIM Lucknow one of the most happening B-schools in the country.
