Nirvaan
at IIM Lucknow
on Sunday,10 August 2003

Abhiyan, the entrepreneurship cell of IIM Lucknow, is proud to present Nirvaan. Nirvaan is a competition targeting the students of all the premier management and engineering institutes in India. It hopes to be a sounding board for the brightest ideas and innovations which can be implemented in the corporate workplace.

The summer internship for most students is their first exposure to the corporate work environment and business problems. They therefore have a fresh perspective of looking at existing methodologies and processes. However, very few companies have the work culture where these ideas get conveyed and probably acted upon. A majority of this wealth of knowledge is destroyed due to the absence of a forum where they can be gathered, channeled and possibly implemented. This is exactly what Nirvaan hopes to be.

Nirvaan is a competition where the participants are required to submit their proposal for a change in the existing methodologies followed in industry, as observed by them during their internships. Specifically, the competition would have three categories for participation - Product Innovation, Process Innovation and Organizational Restructuring.

The winning entries would be published in an annual publication, which would be made available to the corporate community. By doing so, we plan to ensure that these ideas are brought to the notice of practicing managers. The objective is to make this initiative generate value for the corporate world and prevent it from becoming a purely academic exercise.

In line with Abhiyan's vision of creating value through creativity, innovation and change, Nirvaan hopes to be an important milestone in promoting an entrepreneurial mindset amongst managers. It is very gratifying to know that this initiative is getting strong support from various sections of industry. The event has been sponsored by Nucleus Software Engineers Ltd. and the concept has earned appreciation from the likes of Ms. Gita Piramal, Mr. Shouvik Banerjee and others.
