Tatva 2004 Concludes Successfully
At IMT Ghaziabad

Tatva, the inaugural Inter B-school Summer Internship Competition was held at IMT Ghaziabad campus last weekend. A number of students from B-schools like IIMB, IIML, XLRI, MDI, XIMB and UBS Chandigarh were on campus for the 2-day event. They stayed in the hostels and dined with IMTians in the mess, soaking in the culture and traditions of IMT Ghaziabad, which is incidentally celebrating its silver jubilee with the 25th PGDBM batch now on campus. After sifting through a plethora of over 200 entries, the panel arrived at a shortlist of 24 entries across the streams of marketing, finance and human resource.

Saturday, 7th August saw the event being inaugurated by Chairperson PGDBM Programme (IMT), Dr. Kamna Malik. The finance round had topics ranging from pension reforms in India and hedging of commodity trading to short-term credit ratings. Distinguished corporate personalities with an exceptional knowledge in their respective fields comprised the judges for the event. Eminent personalities like Mr. Sumit Wadhwa, Manager - Risk & Business Statistics of Ernst and Young, Mr. Girish Narang, Branch Head of HDFC Securities and Mr. Marco Pellizzer, Service Delivery Leader of Amex comprised the panel for Finance presentations. Mr. Sagar Kumar Jaykumara of XIMB and Mr. D. Dinesh Chandra of XLRI walked away with the honors.

This was followed by the Human Resources event in the post-lunch session. It was the aura of leading men like Mr. Sugato, Senior Manager of Seagram, Mr. Neeraj, Ex DGM of SAIL and Mr. C. S. Mishra, Senior Manager of KRIPKO that constituted the panel for judging the HR presentations. Mr. Pradeep D'Costa of XLRI and Mr. Arun Berry of IMT were declared the winners.

Sunday, 8th August was reserved for the marketing round, which saw a gamut of projects ranging from the mobile gaming industry and split distribution model to sales distribution algorithms. Renowned faces from the corporate dais like Mr. Vikram Sengar, Head of Business Diagnostics of Ranbaxy, and Mr. Adfeesh Jian, Business Development Manager of Siemens comprised the panel for the Marketing presentations. Mr. Karthik Vasudhavan of IIML and Mr. Saurav Shah of IMT Ghaziabad outshone all others in this event.

The event was aptly concluded by a visionary speech by Mr. Palta, VP L&T who enlightened the enraptured audience with his anecdotes about the corporate history and vision of L&T in his unique charismatic manner. Spurred by the success of this venture, IMT plans to hold Tatva on a grander scale next year with B-schools participating from west and south India too.
