ISB: India's Biggest B-School

276 Students in ISB's New Class

Hyderabad, June 23, 2004: The Indian School of Business (ISB) welcomed its fourth Class of students in its Post Graduate Programme in Management. At 276 students, this year's Class is the largest so far, and makes ISB the biggest B-School in India.

The ISB has been steadily ramping up its student numbers in keeping with its plans for expansion. The School's Founding Class comprised 126 students. This year's Class of 2005 is 276 students strong, up from last years count of 219. The ISB has plans to eventually take its class strength to 560 over the next few years.

Each ISB Class is an exceptional group of achievers, with a demonstrated record of accomplishment, both professional and personal - in a range of areas. The Class of 2005 carries on the tradition of excellence set by their predecessors. The Class has a mix of engineers, CAs in fact, India s youngest CA who qualified at 21 years of age, finance professionals, marketing strategists, and entrepreneurs. Adding an extra edge to this blend are students with unique profiles: two mountaineers, and two students who hold patents for technological innovations, a student from the World Bank and another who worked with an NGO in Bangladesh.

ISB has made focused efforts this year to target students from non-A class cities, resulting in 152 students from cities such as Jaipur, Kozhikode, Nagpur, Chandigarh, Indore, etc.

ISB students compare with the best global B-schools and this year is no exception. The average age of the Class is 27 years, the average GMAT score is 690, and they bring an average of 5 years of prior work-experience.

Many of the students in the Class of 2005 also come with international work experience. Besides the 2% of international students from Germany, USA, Canada, UK, and UAE, the Class has 49 Non-Resident Indians from various countries such as Switzerland, Indonesia, South Korea, USA, Australia, UK, Germany, and Canada. The ISB's focus on increasing the number of women students in its Post Graduate Programme has seen the number of women students go up to 52 (19%) this year, up from last year's number of 40.
