Hyderabad, March 27, 2004: The third batch of students of the Indian School of Business graduated today in a colourful ceremony, complete with traditional academic regalia. Anil Ambani, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Limited, was the Chief Guest at the Graduation Day ceremony, which was also attended by some of the most illustrious academics including Dipak Jain, Dean, the Kellogg School of Management, and George W. Gau, Dean, McCombs School of Business, Austin.

In his graduation day address, Anil Ambani, began on a humour note, saying, "I reverse the instructions given to you at the beginning of the programme... switch ON your mobile phones."

Sharing his sense of pride of being associated with the ISB, he said, "I believe that unless you have a special relationship with God, not too many individuals in their lifetime can have opportunities to create a world-class institution like the ISB."

He urged the School to encourage more women students and create a way for women to take leadership roles in the corporate world.

Rajat Gupta, Senior Partner, McKinsey & Co., and Chairman, ISB, earlier introduced the Chief Guest saying, "Anil's business accomplishments are legendary... he is an extraordinary visionary. He has done this School, his businesses, his family, and the country proud."

Advising students to distinguish between career and professional development, Rajat said, "It is very important to have a learning mindset." He urged them to build successes around them while building their own success.

Speaking on the occasion, Dipak Jain, Dean, the Kellogg School of Management, said, "Kellogg is committed to making the ISB a world-class institution. I am very pleased to see the remarkable progress the ISB has made in just three years. Ultimately, it's the quality of students that makes a Business School successful. I am proud to see that ISB students have done so well for themselves." Kellogg is one of ISB's partner schools - the graduation certificates are co-signed by the Deans of the ISB, Kellogg and Wharton.

Professor Vijay Mahajan, Dean, ISB, said, "The ISB is poised for great things. Our students are exceptional - their talents have been well appreciated by the corporate world, and we have had yet another outstanding placements season.
