SPJIMR inaugurates its
3rd batch of
Executive MBA Programme

S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research inaugurated its 3rd Executive MBA (EMBA) batch on September 1, 2003 at their campus in Andheri. Mr. Sudhir Warde, Jt. General Manager of Larsen & Toubro, inaugurated the program.

While welcoming the Chief Guest and the participants, Prof. Suresh Mony stated that SPJIMR's EMBA program inaugurated last year has evinced tremendous interest from corporate and individuals alike. Considerable thought went into the design and architecture, and although participants come to the campus only once in a quarter over an 18 month period, the off-campus period has been designed such that even the busiest of executives are motivated to study and it is veritably a full-time course.

The batch has 36 participants from 8 companies with majority of the participants being from L&T, Tata Motors and Tata Power. Participants are in the age group of 26 to 40, and include Engineers, CA's, Economics post-graduates working in diverse areas, including the Shop floor, Marketing, Finance, HR, and Heath-care.

Prof. Sriram, Chairperson, EMBA Program stated that the program has been designed to impart real-life learning in the work environment of the participant based on the concepts taught in class. The unique pedagogy of SPJIMR has ensured that despite their work pressure participants are made to learn continuously resulting in improved work performance and benefit to the organizations. SPJIMR plans to ultimately train 500 working executives every year.

Mr. Sudhir Warde emphasized on the importance of learning in this era and lamented that he did not get the opportunity to do such a program when he was younger. He also said that L&T' HRD had taken feedback from the participants of the 1st batch and the Mentors; while the participants praised the competence of SPJIMR's Faculty, the Mentors said that the Application exercises designed by SPJIMR have greatly enhanced their practical knowledge and they now find it easier to discuss issues with their mentees, and the productivity as well has increased.
