Autumn Placement 2004 at SPJIMR, Mumbai

It was raining projects at one of the country's premier business schools - S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research - even as the rest of the city came to a standstill in the heavy downpour. "Come rain or shine, SPJIMR always shines" seemed to be the universal message as recruiters braved the heavy rains to grab the crème de la crème of management students.

The 'Autumn' concept pioneered by the Two-year full time PGDM program is a corporate project carried out as part of the curriculum by students during the months of October & November in the 2nd Year, after completing one trimester of their specialization. This concept has resulted in a strong partnership between SPJIMR and the corporate community, yielding more than 100 corporate ambassadors of 'Autumns'.

Recruiters
The excitement was palpable right from the word go. Only 31 companies got an opportunity to offer projects to the 139 participants. The companies, which offered the largest number of projects, were IBM, GE, HCL, WIPRO Asian Paints and Citibank. Companies which participated for the first time for Autumns were HP, Kotak, Cypress, Castrol, Prudential ICICI, Vcustomer and TSMG.

Sector details
Projects were offered in the Banking, BPO, FMCG, IM, Manufacturing and services sectors. Amongst these different sectors, IT consultancy scored the maximum head count (40%) followed by Banking and Financial Institutions and the FMCG sector.

SPJIMR students have earned several accolades from the best organizations in the country for their work. The enthusiasm of the recruiters bore testimony to this fact. Drawing from Hindu mythology, the dean, Dr. Shrikant had once spoken of Brahma (the creator), Vishnu (the preserver) and Mahesh (the destroyer) and urged the students to be the "Vishnu" and not the "Mahesh" of the current world. The PGDM participants of SPJIMR are now all set to embark on their chosen paths to be the Brahmas and Vishnu's of the present and the future.
