B-Schools that charge lowest fee

One of the major concerns before MBA Aspirants about B-Schools is their fee structure. A majority of MBA students fund their course fee by way of educational loans or their personal savings (those who were working prior to MBA).

There are b-school(s) in India that charge as high as Rs. 25 30 lakhs.

However, there are some b-schools that charge too nominal and are equally good in terms of placements, industry exposure and quality of peer group. Lets take a look at b-schools with low fee structure and average salary offered during final placements.

Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), New Delhi
FMS is the one b-school in India who charges lowest fee for its MBA programmes. The tuition fee at FMS Delhi is one of the lowest and most affordable amongst all B-Schools across the country.

The annual tuition fee for all the courses at FMS (MBA-FT, MBA-PT, MBA-HCA etc) is approximately Rs 10,480 per year, hostel and mess charges additional.

The return-on-investment after doing MBA from FMS is excellent. Average salary offered during campus placements 2012 is INR 16.34 lakh.

Department of Management Sciences, Pune University (PUMBA)
Second in the list is PUMBA for it charges Rs 65,000 per year as fees for Open category Candidates, while that for OBC candidates it is Rs 32,500/- per year.

Regarding return-on-investmentPUMBAs placement coordinator told CoolAvenues that they do not share average salary data with any other party, except recruiters. Neither the placement reports are available on institutes website.

Department of Management Studies (DMS) IIT Roorkee
After PUMBA, next in the list is DMS IIT Roorkee that charges Rs.35,000 per semester as Tuition fee for the regular candidates and Rs. 60,000 per semester for sponsored candidates. Other additional charges to be borne by candidates are security, mess charges, hostel and other institute charges.

Average salary offered during final placements 2012 is INR 7.8 lakh

Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai
Often referred to as CEO factory, doing MMS from JBIMS will not put huge burden on your pocket. The institute charges Rs.1,00,000 per annum, while the return-on-investement is as huge as INR 14.9 lakh (average salary offered during placements 2012).

Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA)
If you are willing to serve the rural India after completing your MBA, then IRMA is your destination. The total programme cost over the period of two years (inclusive of boarding, lodging, and field expenditure) is estimated to be about Rs 4,17,700.

Average package offered at IRMA during campus placements 2012 is INR 8.1 lakh

National Institute of Industrial Engineer (NITIE), Mumbai
One of the leading b-schools in India, NITIE admits only first class engineers. The B-School charges around Rs.500,000 (inclusive of all expenses) for 2 year MBA.

The average salary offered during final placements 2011 was INR 11.94 lakh. According to Indian Express, the average salary offered at NITIE during final placements 2012 has increase 10 per cent from that of last year.

Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM) IIT Kharagpur
Established in 1993, VGSoM IIT Kharagpur was the first management school to be established by any IIT in India. The fee for doing MBA from VGSoM is Rs. 1,25,000/- per semester (excluding other expenses). The return-on-investment is quiet decent with average salary offered during final placements 2011 being INR 12.02 lakh.

Prin. L N Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, Mumbai
The tuition fee for PGDM programme of Welingkar is INR 2.5 lakh per annum. According to CoolAvenues B-School Final Placement Survey 2011 data, the average package offered during final placement was Rs. 7.07 lakh.

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi
IIFT MBA is the costliest one appearing in our list. The b-school charges Rs.5,00,000/- p.a. from general/OBC candidates, while fee is just half of it for SC/ST/PH category candidates.

The average salary offered during final placements 2012 is INR 10.83 lakh.
