The opportunities in Sales and Product Management are vast. However, most organizations prefer their trainees to have sales experience before joining product management.

Advertising and Market Research are service sector activities.
India has a large number of small agencies, and a few large agencies, often with foreign tie-ups. Most of the large and professional market research agencies are divisions or subsidiaries of advertising agencies.

The companies that recruit on campus are usually from industries such as: -

FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods): Procter & Gamble, Unilever, GlaxoSmith Kline, Pepsi, Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, Marico, Heinz, etc.

Consumer Durables: BPL, Blowplast, Godrej & Boyce, Maruti Udyog Ltd, Whirlpool, etc.

Advertising & Market Research Agencies: HTA, O&M, IMRB, ORG MARG, Lintas, Leo Burnett.

14. Finance as a Career Option

MBAs specializing in Finance are concerned with the efficient use of the organizations' capital resource - Money. They are trained in financial planning, decision-making and control, corporate finance, project finance and investment analysis, merchant banking, equity analysis and research. Specialized areas include portfolio management, issue management, treasury management, international finance, retail banking.

Finance specialization will open opportunities for you in the following sectors: -

Banking: Most banks carry out Consumer Banking, Investment Banking, Institutional Banking. These cover individual accounts, management of securities and lending to corporate clients, respectively.

Merchant Banking: It is focused on public issues to raise capital required by organizations.

Non-Banking Finance: It is of two types. One through small privately run organizations focused on hire, purchase, leasing. Two, specialized public sector institutions concentrating on shipping, housing finance, venture capital, etc.
