Final Report on Placements 2004 at the IIM Bangalore

Final Placements for graduating students started in late 2003 with 16 organizations making 31 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) (18 last year) to the graduating batch students based on their summer placement performance in these organizations in 2003.

The PPOs were from: -

    There were about 120 organisations (105 last year) that evinced interest in recruiting the graduating students at IIMB this year and most of them conducted Pre-Placement Talks on campus in December 2003 and January 2004. However, only 95 organisations (64 last year) actually recruited IIMB students, making 325 offers (214 last year) through lateral and final placements. Six more organizations (4 last year) recruited only through PPOs - HSBC Investment Bank UK, Lehman Brothers USA, Simulex, USA, KSA Technopak, Siemens and Maruti, and including the 31 PPOs received, there were a total of 356 offers (232 last year) from the 101 participating organisations (68 last year) for the 209 post-graduate and doctoral students (169 last year) that were placed through campus placement. Four students opted to create new enterprises or to join their family business.

    Lateral Placements introduced in 2002 for graduating students with substantive prior work experience, were conducted from December 2002 to February 2003. A total of 100 lateral placement offers (25 last year) were made by 30 organizations (7 last year) that participated in lateral placements. The lateral offers were made by Astra Zeneca (3), Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (2), Computer Science Corporation (1), Dell Computers (2), Digital (3), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (7), Eicher Consulting (1), HCL Technologies (1), Helios (2), I2 Technologies (5), Infosys Technologies (12), Kanbay (8), LN Mittal Group, UK (4), Metlife (1), Mphasis (5), PricewaterhouseCoopers (6), Quark (6), Ramco Systems (3), SAP (1), Saint-Gobain (1), Sami Labs (1), Sapient (6), Satyam (6), Stern Stewart (1), Tata Consultancy Services (1), Techspan (3), Torrent (2), TVS Motors (1) Wipro (4), Wockhardt (1). In addition many organizations also offered lateral entry positions to students during the final placement process held from March 12-18, 2004. Overall, the largest recruiters of IIMB students for permanent placements through PPOs, lateral and final placements were Cognizant Technology Solutions (16 offers), Infosys (12), National Kidney Foundation Singapore (12), ICICI Bank (11), Pricewaterhouse Coopers (10), Citibank (9), JP Morgan Services (9), Kanbay (8), American Express (8), GE Capital (8) and Satyam (8).
