Placement 2007

 IIM Indore

12 International Offers in World's Emerging Economies Mark 10th Year of IIM Indore Placements

For the 115 students, it was not about the 329 offers comprising 12 international offers from 67 companies, 29 of whom coming for the first time. Neither was it the average salary of over Rs. 12 Lakhs per annum - an increase of nearly 45% over last year.

It was a dream of working in the choicest of profiles from the most sought after companies in niche areas in FMCG, Consulting and Financial Services Sectors as well as opportunities to work in emerging economies of the world like Brazil, China, Kuwait, Australia, Africa.

Daring to Dream

With a batch hailing from diverse educational background - doctors, CAs, media grads, commerce, and a few engineers - the final placements 2007 were always going to be a challenge for IIM Indore. A challenge, which has been assimilated in style. Daring to go beyond the lure of the lucre, the placements saw some students taking brave decisions to leave high-paying offers to take up their dream jobs or even to dive into the unknown by accepting new profiles. The pay packages saw a high of US $ 67,000 internationally for a marketing profile and an unprecedented Rs. 18 Lakhs per annum domestic. Infosys offered the highest international posting of US $ 1,10,000.

Consulting. More than 25% of the batch getting into top-end consulting is a clear indication of exceptional talent acknowledged by the presence of big names such as McKinsey, Accenture Business Consulting, KPMG, Stern Stewart & Co, Deloitte Consulting, Aptivaa Consulting, Price-Waterhouse Coopers, SAP Labs. Profiles ranged from general and strategic consulting to financial consulting including Basel II implementation norms to economic value-added, as well as business research for market development and entry strategy.

Banking & Financial Services. This sector witnessed the participation of MNC majors as well as specialized financial services companies. With profiles ranging from Private Equity, Asset Management and Treasury to Real Estate Valuation, Venture Funding, IIM Indore certainly has the right talent to match the stringent needs of the recruiters. Global giant Barclays Capital, amongst the top banks in the world, also participated in the process. Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Bank of America, HSBC, Citigroup, Standard Chartered and JP Morgan along with domestic majors SBI, UTI and first timers like YES Bank were vying for the best students on campus by providing competing offers. Niche asset management profiles were offered by firms like Horizon Asset Management and Max New York Life (MNYL).
