Consulting, Finance & Marketing Profiles Most Sought After by IIT-Roorkee MBA Students

The Department of Management Studies (DoMS), IIT Roorkee, concluded its placements on a high note for the Batch of MBA 2005-07. DoMS received confirmation from 42 companies for participating in the placement process; however, it took only 20 companies to place the entire batch.

The build up to the placement week started well in advance in terms of 12 PPOs being offered and students taking up winter internships in esteemed organizations like CII, Ernst & Young, HSBC, HDFC, L&T Finance, to name a few. The Final Placements recruiters' profile indicates that DoMS is recognized by the industry as an institution to nurture managerial talent to meet the challenges posed by the corporate world. The placement week witnessed the presence of some of the big names from various verticals of the industry.

The indicative list of the first time recruiters included KPMG, SBI Capital Markets Ltd., Jones Lang Lasalle, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Cognizant Technology Solutions and Market Rx. The highest number of offers was made by IBM India and Kotak Mahindra Bank. The highlights of the placement week were not only fat pay packages and big brand names but also some of the best profiles in the corporate world being offered. Recruiters like IBM India, INFOSYS, Market Rx and Cognizant Technology Solutions offered laterals to leverage the prior experience that the candidates possessed.

Consulting, Finance and Marketing were the most sought after profiles by the students on the campus this year.

The Final Placements saw representation of banking sector via the participation of Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI Caps offering its Project Advisory profile. Consulting profiles were offered by IBM India, KPMG, and Bristlecone India. Firms like GENPACT, Pipal Research, Market Rx, e-Valueserve and HSBC Global Sourcing offered Analytic profiles. In the midst of the real estate sector boom, Project Management profile was offered by the Real Estate Management Firm Jones Lang Lasalle. The Insurance sector was represented by the ICICI family, ICICI Prudential and ICICI Lombard. INFOSYS, TCS and Cognizant Technology Solutions kept the interest high from the IT sector. Marketing profiles were offered by IMRB, Bajaj Auto, International Tractors Ltd. (Sonalika Group), Balmer Lawrie & Co. to name a few.

The consulting profiles covered SAP consulting, Strategy & Change Management, Supply Chain Management, Technical Systems Audit. The banking companies offered branch banking, wealth management, credit & risk, private banking, rural micro & agricultural banking, credit risk assessment, project advisory, project finance. Analytic profiles offered were structured finance, risk management, financial modeling. The profiles offered in IT range from IT Consulting and Business Development to Business Analytics and Domain Consulting. The marketing profiles covered branding, product management and strategy. Operations & CRM along with retail and corporate sales were the profiles offered in Insurance.
