Placement 2007

 IMT Ghaziabad

Kotak Mahindra Largest Recruiter at IMT Ghaziabad, Hands Out 31 Offers

A sense of déjà vu prevailed on the IMT Ghaziabad campus, when in a repeat of the resounding success of last year, the entire class of 2007 was placed on Day 1. In fact, a new benchmark of success has been set this year - 100% placements being achieved in just four hours into Day 1 of placements. There was a significant increase in both the number of offers made and salaries offered with many students bagging multiple offers.

The campus recruitment process at IMT Ghaziabad started off with 121 companies confirming their participation, out of which only 102 companies could be slotted. The companies were vying to recruit 253 students of the class of 2007 from the PGDBM, MHRM, and MIB courses.

The highest domestic salary offered this year was Rs. 17 Lakhs (offered by Abhishek Industries - Trident Group) whereas the highest international package offered was US $ 95,000 (offered by Olam International). Overall, the average salary for the flagship program, PGDBM, was Rs. 10.36 Lakhs, an increase of a whopping 40% over the previous year with the average domestic salary being Rs. 9.1 Lakhs. The average domestic salary for fresher was Rs. 8.83 Lakhs.

The largest recruiter this year was Kotak Mahindra Bank, which handed out 31 offers. Infosys, Cognizant Technology Solutions, ICICI Prudential, Bharti, and Trident were also amongst the leading recruiters on campus.

This year IMT had a large pool of talent with Finance Major, and the placement process saw a large number of new finance companies in campus like Union Bank of Switzerland, Irevna, Bank of America Continuum, DE Shaw. As a testament to the growing brand equity of IMT Ghaziabad, the placement process saw many first-time recruiters including, eClerx, Jumbo International, Covansys, Dell and Accenture. They joined an already impressive portfolio of companies visiting the campus for the recruitment process, which includes GE, JP Morgan Chase, Dabur, Marico, HLL, Henkel India, Godfrey Phillips India, Citibank, HSBC Group, State Bank, SabMiller, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Satyam, Bharti, Idea, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra Group, Essar Group, Vedanta Group, Indian Oil Corporation, Avalon, Anand Bazaar Patrika and Radio Mirchi, to name a few.

Along with the flagship program, the newer programs in Human Resource Management and International Business also saw substantial hike, both in the average compensation package and in terms of number of offers. This year the average salary for HR batch stood at Rs. 7.39 Lakhs, with the highest salary crossing the Rs. 12 Lakhs barrier (offered by Abhishek Industries - Trident Group). Closely following the PGDBM students, the International Business batch also saw a jump in the average salary, which stood at Rs. 8.42 Lakhs p.a. this year, a jump of over 50%, as compared to previous year. The highest domestic salary for MIB Batch stood at Rs. 10.75 Lakhs (offered by Kotak Mahindra Group).

Even before the start of the placement process, 31 students had PPOs from leading companies. IMT's perseverance in producing self-motivated mangers was rewarded with a number of students opting to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions.

"This year, even with the increased batch size, we achieved substantially higher compensation packages and offers from world renowned brands for our students, which is clearly a result of the focus on quality that we put day in and day out," said Prof. Nilanjan Chattopadhyay, Chairman Placements, IMT Ghaziabad.

Concluded.
