Placement 2007

 Institute of Management, Nirma University

NIRMA Alumni Returns to its Alma Mater to Recruit the New Graduates in Final Placements

The week starting 27th November saw a virtual storm at the Institute of Management, Nirma University, with a plethora of companies vying for the 123 students of the 2005-07 batch. It was truly an emotionally charged atmosphere with all the highs and lows that are an integral part of any placement week at a top-notch B-school.

The entire process ran like clock-work with a dedicated team of members facilitating successfully what was a Herculean task. They were ably-backed by the junior batch.

The First Day saw some of the most revered companies on campus. There was a mix of industry heavyweights from the fields of IT, Auto, Finance and the likes. There was something for everyone. The highest package was Rs. 10.2 lakhs per annum by JP Morgan Chase. The second highest package, a whopping Rs. 8.5 lakhs per annum went to Mr. Summit Shekhar, an engineering graduate with four years of industry experience. He was recruited by Accenture as a domain specialist. The average salary grew a phenomenal 30% from Rs. 5.3 lakhs last year to an impressive Rs. 6.8 lakhs this year and an incredible 240% in just a space of 4 years.

The state of the economy and the initiatives taken by the management at IMNU has contributed considerably to this achievement. A conscious decision regarding the mix of professionals with work experience and fresh graduates was another significant contributor to this success. Nirma, in line with its long-standing philosophy, has always strived to maintain a close relationship with the corporate sphere. Be it in terms of designing course structure, content of delivery, constant interaction with students via several management conclaves and many other such initiatives. Almost a third of the batch along with members of the faculty spends an entire week every year interacting with corporates and alumni in various cities across the country as part of the corporate relations building exercise.

This rich heritage of learning has proven a true differentiator for a Nirma graduate. This fact has been recognized and appreciated by the industry, so much so that unfortunately many companies had to be turned back due to the sheer scale of recruitment on Day 1 and Day 2. This has been another hallmark at all the placement weeks thus far. The feedback received from the companies post recruitment has always been very positive and companies invariably return the following year.

Nirma has developed a strong alumni network these past years and lays great stress on the relationship between the past and present students. This close relationship was in evidence with a large number of alumni returning to their alma mater to recruit the new graduates.

Concluded.
