Challenging Profiles Hold Sway in Placement Process at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay

The first step towards achievement is to dream. Only if you will dream, you can think of achieving. Same is true of the Final Placement Season at the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, which saw dreams turning into reality on the D Day. It was with huge aplomb and pride that SJMSOM, IIT Bombay, entering into the
eleventh year since its inception, started its placement process on January 4th, 2007. Expectations were mountain-high, and so were the final placement results.

The entire batch of 2005-07 was handpicked by corporate bigwigs, offering interesting profiles across various functions depending upon the interests of the students. The consistent focus of the School on industry interaction, the enhanced course structure in alignment with the industry expectations, and last but not the least, the constantly growing reputation in the corporate circles - were the key factors responsible for a hugely successful placement season.

A total of 41 companies gave 141 offers to the batch of 58 students resulting in an average of 2.43 offers per student.

The placement season at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay had already kick-started on a very bright note with many students receiving lucrative Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) from various companies. The Pre-Placement Offers have increased vastly this year compared to the year before; with 37% of the batch having offers in hand even before the final placement started. Various renowned companies like Marico, RPG, Wipro, L'Oreal, Patni, eClerx, Cadbury, Tata Motors, CitiGroup have offered PPOs/PPIs.

The synergistic interaction of the school with the industry along with a diverse work-experience of the students helped in making the lateral placement process at the school, an astounding success. Offers for lateral placements included top-notch profiles in Leadership, Private Equity, Investment Banking, Management and IT Consulting, Sales and Marketing, amongst other exciting profiles.

International Offers

With nearly 10% of the batch being offered international profiles, SJMSOM saw a surge of multinational companies picking up students for their international profiles. With the highest international salary pegged at USD 85000 (offered by Olam International), SJMSOM made its mark in the international arena.
