Placement 2008

Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad

Placements at ISB Turn Truly Global with Leading Niche International Firms Visiting Campus

Previous

Women at the ISB Treble their CTC

The ISB has 25% women in the Class of 2008, perhaps the largest number in an Indian B-school. The 106 strong women students at the ISB have received several senior roles across industries. Their CTC has increased three times over after completing the ISB
programme. At the time of joining the ISB, the average CTC of the women students was INR 5,18,540. They have now received CTCs which averages to INR 16,44,328. "I've received a very interesting offer and have also made a radical shift from journalism to telecom marketing," says Aarti Kothari, Class of 2008. "It has been a phenomenal year for me."

Classmates Turn Business Partners

Several students who met for the first time during the programme at the ISB have decided to chart a new path for themselves. Classmates who competed with each other during the year are now working together as business partners. Four groups of students are starting new companies, four of them were founded on the ISB campus this year. The new ventures are spread across various industries such as Nanotechnology, Financial Services, Knowledge Process Outsourcing, and Contract Research.

Placement Statistics

The average Indian CTC offered to ISB students this year is INR 19,00,000. The students have attracted a remarkable hike of more than double what they were drawing prior to the ISB. The average CTC drawn by students at the time of joining the ISB was INR 7,19,000. The average international CTC is on par with what students at top international B-schools attract. The international averages are: USA - USD 138,614; Europe - USD 156,658; Asia Pacific - USD 145,607; Middle East - USD 125,389. The comprehensive average of all international offers is USD 144,812.

The ISB has taken a decision of high-lighting placement trends and sharing an overall picture of student performance during the placements season. Announcing this decision, M. Rammohan Rao, Dean, ISB, said, "We believe that announcing the CTC of a handful of students out of a large Class of 450, does not give a clear and fair picture of the entire Class's performance. In keeping with the tradition followed by international B-schools, we will henceforth share the information that is representative of the student body."

"The students at the ISB welcome the decision of announcing key placement information which is representative of the entire student body. We firmly believe that the average CTCs and overall recruitment trends comprehensively represent the value that the industry places on ISB students," said Manik Gupta, President, Graduate Students Board, Class of 2008.

Concluded.
